The second chapter in Saikyo’s vertical-scrolling shooters

Following the 1993 Best Shooting Game award winner Sengoku Ace, this is Saikyo’s second entry in its iconic vertical shooter series.

Setting

19th century Europe — an era when humanity has only just begun to conquer the skies through powered flight.

“Gather my fragments, and I shall rise again. The wish of he who breaks my seal shall be granted.”

Fragments of the legendary Atler’s Magic Mirror are discovered by a French archaeologist. Drawn by their own secret wishes, five sky adventurers — known as the Gunbirds — take flight to collect the fragments scattered across the world.

The Little Great Wizard

A lively girl who calls herself a descendant of the Great Wizard Merlin. Though still inexperienced, she wields wind magic and flies on a broom. Officially, she claims to be training — but her real goal is the Magic Mirror. Cute in appearance but strong-willed and mischievous, she seems to be plotting something dark this time around.

Chinese Female Mage

A beautiful and mysterious sorceress who uses questionable mystical arts. She flies by generating clouds beneath her feet. Fiercely combative, she appears driven solely by a desire to face stronger opponents. Rumors claim she can transform in three stages — or that her true form may be a monkey.

Sky Adventurer Scientist

A cool-headed scientist and archaeologist driven by curiosity and adventure. After years of researching flight, he perfected his backpack-mounted Rocket Pack. Hearing rumors of the Magic Mirror, his thirst for discovery launches him into yet another grand journey.

Flying Robot Soldier

VALNUS
Origin: Russia
Age: 6 months

• Bomb: VALNUS Buster

The first autonomous flying weapon developed by the Imperial Russian military. Powered by rockets and governed by a spring-wound thought circuit that must be rewound every six hours, VALNUS follows military orders without question. Assigned personally by the Emperor to recover the Magic Mirror, it has recently begun to exhibit signs of self-awareness.
